When a celebrity announces they’re expecting a baby, you know what’s next — in addition to a slew of adorable bump pics, stars often share their super-cute gender reveal. And just like in the “real” world it’s always fun to share in the nervous anticipation and subsequent joy that comes from the parents finding out what they’re having. Bonus? Celebrities typically take gender reveals to the next level, staging elaborate photo shoots or videos to make the big reveal.
It merits mentioning, of course, that gender is a social construct. What these celebrities are actually finding out is the sex of their baby, which is biological. But for the purpose of this article, we’re referring to these types of announcements as “gender reveals” since, well, that’s how most people refer to them. However, we understand that the standard “blue or pink” parties don’t encompass other gender identities such as trans, genderqueer, non-binary, and more.
Still, many people choose to do gender reveals because it’s one of those cute customary things you do to celebrate the impending arrival of your little one. It’s a moment filled with emotion and awe, making it fun for the rest of us to watch, too. In that spirit, let’s take a look at some of the best celebrity gender (read: sex) reveals.
Nikki Bella
Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev let the world know they would soon be having a baby son on the season 5 finale of Total Bellas. Nikki and Artem’s gender reveal was Mexican-themed — so naturally, Nikki found out the sex of her baby by bashing open a piñata and exploding blue confetti out onto family and friends.
