South Dakota Governor Signs Anti Trans Youth Executive Order

On Monday, NPR reported that South Dakota Republican Governor Kristi Noem signed two executive orders that would prohibit anyone from participating in an all-women’s sport team unless they were assigned female at birth. The executive orders were created in response to HB 1217, a bill that was passed by South Dakota House republicans and designed to prohibit transgender athletes from playing on teams that aligned with their gender identity. Noem was unhappy with the legal language included in the original bill, and asked lawmakers to revise it so that it would stand up to deeper legal scrutiny....

Vaginal Sweat Odor During A Workout Causes Treatments

Let’s face it, we all get a little sweaty while working out — and yes, that includes your vagina and vulva. Engaging in a legs-together workout, such as running, tends to cause the most amount of sweat in your groin and vaginal area — so it’s no wonder women experience this persistent problem. While vaginal wetness and odor can be slightly embarrassing as you workout elbow-to-elbow with other people, the reality is, it’s just physiology....

Elizabeth Warren S Campaign Taught My Daughter About Misogyny

When my daughter, Viola, was three months old, she wore a onesie that promised in looping cursive that “The future is female.” The first stories we read to her were the board book biographies of Jane Austen and Rosa Parks. At five, her favorite shirt declared to the world in sparkling script her life’s ambition: Future President. When Hillary Clinton won the nomination in 2016, my daughter was thrilled. Sure it was pure identity politics, but my then-5-year-old didn’t care; Viola just wanted to have a girl president....

Healthier Alcohol Is Vodka Better For You Than Wine

We know, we know… there aren’t any forms of alcohol that are really healthy — but we also know that in the great alcohol health debate, not all forms of booze are created equal. Sipping on clear liquor with water as a mixer, for instance, will win out over a whiskey and Coke any day of the week. And drinking a glass of wine is infinitely better than ordering a vodka soda, right?...

How To Get A Handle On Holiday Depression

As someone who has depression, which gets significantly worse during the holidays, I basically want to hole up in my apartment between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day and skip all that jolly crap. Unfortunately, that’s not an option, so I spoke with several mental health professionals about why the holidays can be especially rough for people, and what we can do to cope. For starters, we are told repeatedly — even in song — the holidays are “the most wonderful time of the year....

How To Talk To Kids About Dc Capitol Riots

My husband and I were in the car with our 7-year-old on Wednesday afternoon when we began to hear the reports about the pro-Trump rioters at the Capitol. I Wasn T Ready For How Hard It Would Be To Get Rid Of My Kids Books

I consider myself reasonably sentimental — I’m a mom, after all. And all moms know that familiar tug at your heartstrings when you come across old artwork made by little hands, or a teeny-tiny pair of PJs that haven’t fit your kid in years. It comes with the territory. The non-mom facet of my personality, however, has a huge dislike for clutter. I’m no Marie Kondo, but nothing soothes me like a well-organized space....

Manime Review Affordable At Home Gel Manicures Last Longer Than Salon Manicures

When the world shut down last year, many of us were stuck with our last pre-pandemic gel manicure for longer than we’ve ever left it on before. So much, that our extremities were looking a bit witchy (but not in a cute Halloween way). But once they eventually chipped away, I dowsed them in acetone and foil, or I forcibly peeled them off (don’t tell my manicurist!), I was back to square one....
